July 2004

bisonYou ever get the idea that you thought you knew what was going on with something in particular in your life, only to remember that the idea you have now is contradicting the conclusions you were coming to previously, and even those conclusions you had long since written off as not going to happen, if not for some recent events, and with all that, you now have no idea what to think now? I guess I’m saying I just don’t know. I probably never did. I wish there was some way to be certain either way, or at least have some sort of indication. Oh well I guess that’s not how these things go some times. (Its just really disorienting when all of this brings itself back up out of nowhere, after I’d thought I’d long since let go of it, or at least tried to).

On that note this weekend should be mostly helping with painting at mat’s, since it seems any plans to go to Philly or anywhere else never seemed to evolve (oh well I bet mat and emily will be glad to have me for more painting HAH). But heck… who am I to write off the weekend before its even happened yet, right? Maybe I will go to philly still, if plans materialize.

Note: .. Volleyball, while fun, really does take a toll on you. Every week i go out there and play hard at our summer volleyball game on wednesdays. Every week i come back with one of my hands feeling like a claw. In fact, its kinda tough for me to type correctly lol. You’d think i’d be worried about my ankle that I hyperextended a couple weeks ago, but suprisingly that felt pretty good, and I had pretty good range of movement. I was still careful, and i did stretch it a bit more than i probably was looking to. All in all though, nothing hurt hah, except some stiffness now.

Well Hmm, I’m gonna end the post here, and come back with something else tommorrow. When in fact it isn’t hard for me to type. Its funny, nothing hurts, its just a stiffness and less range of motion, that is only very apparant while typing. Thus dubbed THE CLAW.

circuitI’ve had two projects as of late. My number one project lately has been developing this website. It has been a blast, and I still have a whole lot more to do. The idea was basically to make a website to massage my own ego. Not that I think anybody really cares in the general populous about some schlep from the Philly area who now lives in Maryland (by way of living in North Dakota for a couple years). But it really isn’t about you is it. Its about me, on a few levels. One i can write stuff for all to see, and for friends and family to read up on my whereabouts. Its also, more importantly, a way for me to experiment and learn more things about web development, which really is my main focus here. Computers are my thing, and I am always trying to learn just about everything. I think I suffer from a short attention span or at least a thirst to learn a little about EVERYTHING. That would explain why I have Computer Science degree, but i also almost had a History minor in college. Plus i was a class or two away from a Math minor. (probably if i hadn’t taken so many history courses i would have had that Math minor… but who wants a math minor ick?!) Past just schooling I’ve taught myself a lot of things. I’ve taken up over the past few years, learning how to play guitar. Plus I dabble in manipulating sounds. Sure yes I am a technology person, so most of my interests center around that. But I do other things, like I love golf, racquetball, and biking. I also take time every so often to sit down and try and better myself as a writer. I write everything from short stories, to more lyrical type pieces. (maybe if you’re lucky i may get up the courage to post some of that on this website. Some of it I think is pretty good, in a way i almost don’t believe that i wrote it). I guess ever since i learned the idea of “renaissance men” in my schooling, I think i’ve kinda keyed into the spirit of that, and I try and be as well rounded in my skills as I can be.

This in a round about way brings me back to my original intentions for this post. My project of late, of which started before the website, but has taken a back seat for a short while, is to build some electronics. Like get resistors and a circuit board and all that jazz and solder something together that works. First being a theremin. Why a theremin? Because 1. they’re kinda cool. 2. I can do it with 30 bucks of radio shack parts. A pretty cheap investment for me to learn more about electronics building and soldering. After that I want get some kits possibly from PAiA, which sells a lot of interesting build it yourself electronics gear. Since I’ve gotten my website to at least a level where it doesn’t look totally like i left all the default look on everything, I think i’ll take a break from the site for a couple of days and hunker down on the electronics projects.

If you’re interested here’s the website that has all the plans for the Theremin i want to build: http://www.oldtemecula.com/theremin/limited.htm.

Well its only a couple weeks now till i head out to california for vacation. I can use this vacation too, work is hectic. That reminds me i should really talk to my uncle and figure out where I should rent a car from when i get there. guitar

ScrewSomedays you just get wound up. Much like I am now. Too bad it seems I’m just spinning wheels. So i think i’ll list what i gotta do.

1. Tommorrow I gotta get into work early and work on some forms
2. Figure out time to go over documents for the review i have in the afternoon
3. Get my brake pads changed (well sometime this week)
4. Figure out the weekend.
5. Go to bed at a regular time tonight.

Wow this is a boring blog post.

ok … i’ll add some sex and controversy to make it interesting.

Sex…. Controversy! … ooooh ahhhh. Get your freaky freaky on.

tunnelsite5.com rocks. Best customer service, I’ve ever! experienced with anything.

Gallery is not up and working and you can reach the pics i’ve uploaded so far through the “imagery” link to the right (well unless my template changes.. but it’ll be somewhere here).

What else, I’m completely tired right now.. I think i should go to sleep. Its been a long day and my monday was completely random. I couldn’t seem to get anything straight. I was completely scrabbled. Much like this post.

With that, I’m going to sleep.

Well in other news than just website things, I went to a friends bachelor party on saturday evening. It was Dan’s (Steve’s brother, of my friends out here in b-more). The evening began with meeting up at Jason’s house.

7pm:
Boehm and I arriving, in fact, on time. Jason was still getting back from working photography at a wedding. Sweeny was around and rousing to get ready to head out to the party.

7:30pm:
Jason gets home, we head out with the rental van to pick up everybody who’s coming on the party. (boehm of course is the designated driver. Once we pick up everybody we all head down to Federal Hill in baltimore to the “Thirsty Dog Pub” (arriving around 8:30 i guess). Pretty good place, and good beer. The nights plans are to be here for a while hang out drink beer then head down the street to someplace with cheaper shots, and of course all along the way get Dan as drunk as we can. I, of course, am quite up for this task.

9:30pm
We were getting close to moving from the Thirsty Dog onto a next destination. The suggestion comes out.

Boehm: Lets go to Atlantic City.

Rest of Us: Blank stare at this proposition. We all are thinking it, but we didn’t really know if it was quite the feasible idea. After all boehm is driving right?

Enter 10 minutes later after dan thought of it for a while.

We’re going to AC! after we go talk to some people Dan knew that were in a bar down the street.

10:30pm
low and behold the party heads on the the great New Jersey ocean town of lights, festivities, and hedonism that is Atlantic City.

Midnight (or somewhere around there):
We hit a TGI Fridays along the way for Some beers and shots (in and out in 10 minutes flat). I’d like to call this stop… a “Recharge”.

We get to AC and the party begins … gambling ensues. Dan and Steve win some money the rest of us loose it on slots or something. But who cares about that, it was all in the name of giving our boy Dan a good time, last hurrah of spur of the moment crazyness before he heads off to the life of a married man coming in the next couple of weeks.

8am Sunday:
We get home finally approximately 13 hours after we had left upon this trip very tired but very satisfied that we given Dan a good time to remember for his Bachelor Party.

Sunday:

Sleep… till about 4:30pm, oh it felt so good.

The rest of the day I’ve been doing laundry, screwing with website stuff, and chatting with people online.

Wow what a crazy weekend.

Pizaah!

it works .. too bad i lost that last post i made about going to get my brake pads replaced. Eh, i coudln’t get them changed today anyways.
