Ok so I just feel like recapping things today. I’m feeling in that mood. Lately I’ve just been posting foto stuff on my site, cause I’ve had a rash of interesting stuff related to that lately. I’m about 20something pictures into my first Lomo LC-A roll. I’ve been taking a lot of random pictures, we’ll see how they all turn out. Hopefully a few will be good.
On Friday I went out with Laurie and we got Mongolian BBQ at this place down in Bethesda (I can’t remember the name of the place right now.) Mmmmm Mongolian BBQ. That stuff is sooo good. The place was a little crowded but we got our food fine, and we had a lot of time to talk about a bunch of random stuff. It was good. Laurie you ask? Yep Laurie, she’s a girl i met a couple of weeks ago. We’ve been doing a lot of stuff together lately. Partly i guess the reason why i haven’t been putting much up on the blog .. not as much time ;) (which is a good thing). So she enters the cast of characters i talk about on my weblog hehe. But i think most who read my weblog probably know details already. After dinner we went for a walk through her neighborhood, it was cool. So many trees, my car got covered in pollen in about 2 minutes. I’m amazed my allergies haven’t been working me over worse than they are right now.
Saturday i headed up to Philly to visit my Mom for mother’s day a day early. My dad washed my car and my mom and I headed out to best buy to look at movies. It was cool. Then we got home and eventually we got some fried chicken from the Giant for dinner. Mom didn’t want to deal with going out for mother’s day, since she doesn’t like the crowds and the waiting, and the random chance the food is less than par. Which i understand. I can’t argue, its her day, we do what she wants :). I got her a cool card that is true to life. It was a funny card showing an attic with a bunch of old high school stuff and report cards and junk that have been left at the house. Inside it thanked her for keeping watch over all my old junk ;). She liked it a lot, so i was happy, i knew it was a winner.
Though, I have to say, Jim and Melissa (my brother, and his wife) trumped my mother’s day card by a long shot. When we started dinner they had come over to my parents house, and got dinner with us. Mom was already eating, but Jim and Melissa insisted that she open her Mother’s day card. At first she said she’d get to it after dinner, but they kept insisting. So she opened it up finally after a few minutes of cajoling. At first she thought the card was a mistake. It was a Grandmothers, happy Mother’s day card. She said “oh how nice, but i think you made a mistake?” and then a second later it kicked in. She’s going to be a grandmother.. my brother and sis-in-law are going to have a kid!!!. It was so cute how they told us. It all made sense now why they were trying to get everybody together at the same time. Melissa is going to the first ultra-sound this week i believe (I’ll have a pic up when they scan and get it to me). They think they’re about almost 2 months along now.
I’M GONNA BE AN UNCLE!! thats so awesome. I’m so happy for them.
Sunday, I ended up going out with Laurie to a family get together, for food, and talk. I was down her place early so we went out to the gym and worked out. (Grrrrrrrrr) I got bored with the treadmill as I always do and decided to go ride a stationary bike, which for some reason i can just phase out on, whereas I can’t do that yet with a treadmill. I’ve just got to get more into running is all, once i do that I’ll have no problems with the treadmill. Until then longer runs I do will be outdoors around the block and such, its easier for me to set a goal of a distance that way, because i can see where I’m going, and i know I’ve gotta get back to my apartment somehow. After working out we got ready to head out and meet her family and some uncles and aunts and her grandmother for mother’s day. So i met them all, and I met her little 13 year old sister, Kristin (sp?), as well. She’s a trip. Everybody was pretty cool and we had a good time, i think i spent half my day laughing.
So that was my weekend. Action packed.
So one last time .. I’m gonna be an Uncle .. Uncle Mike .. i think that sounds cool.
Yesterday i put up a bunch of pics into my gallery from my camera phone. I just take random pictures with it every so often. Sometimes its so random that its even a mystery to me when i took the picture. The reason why they’re mysterious probably is because a lot of the camera phone pics come out very motion blurred and oddly grainy and interestingly colored. I really do love the pics that come off the thing because of their quirky low quality look.
check here.
So today. I put in my order for a Lomo Kompakt Automat camera. Mat, being the source of many gadget ideas, convinced me i should get one. It made sense, since they take great color saturated pictures and are small and compact so you can take them anywhere without much thought. It also goes well with my latest hobby of photography and taking interesting pictures. Since scrapping my idea for XM and or an IPOD, i have been looking at a new digi-cam. Something thats small and very very portable, but has a lot of capability. I’ve come to decide that i kinda want the Canon Powershot SD400. Its got all the features i want in a digi cam and it’ll fit in a pocket quite easily. With that said, i began talking to mat about the Lomography cameras. And it pretty much came down to the fact that (as in the above link to mat’s site) Lomography is going to stop making the camera pretty soon, so whatever the stock that places have left will be gone for the forseeable future, once they run out. Thus the camera will eventually be somewhat of a collectors item. But even past that its a little silly camera that takes great pictures, that you might not be able to get if you dont’ get one now. Whereas digi-cams are here to stay. So that made my choice easy. (i mean in a perfect world i could just order them both and not worry about it lol, but alas i’m not up for spending *THAT* much money right now).
So sure .. go look at what Lomography is here

10 - 24. I totally didn’t get a chance to record anything.. I was outside walking around DC, on a very very windy day.
Roll 0010: Was 100 speed film (still scanning)
I got about 20 shots off this roll before i developed it. I didn’t record anything for the F Settings. Alot of shots were just on the fly. A few were testing out my flash that I’d gotten a little while ago, and figuring out what i need to do with it to make it work in the way i want it to. Still haven’t quite figured it out exactly so i can set something and know exactly how it should come out. Though hey i haven’t taken that many picture in general in the film world anyways yet. I guess i’ll get a feel for it eventually. For now i’m just flying by the seat of my pants as you would say.
Let me finish by saying that i was dipstick and had a soda near where i was laying my pictures when i was scanning things. So inevitably Murphy’s Law kicked in and I spilled the soda. I did the best i can to make sure i didn’t loose any pictures…
so thats what i got so far.
