Laurie and I are hitting Ikea tonight. We haven’t been to that store in a while, since our initial thrust of Ikea adventures (which included strapping a huge couch at one point to Laurie’s little Rav 4) .. but i digress. Possibly after tonight we’ll have be done with furnishings for the house for the most part. yay!

Basically all the following links are about $ony’s “guerrilla” style marketing campaign for the PSP. Here’s the basic idea. Sony, a major international corporation, paid ad artists, to go around in major cities and paint PSP ads, that look like graffiti. These ads were 1. not paid for 2. painted on other people’s property and 3. vandalism basically. But still i think they figure since they’re a big corporation, they can just go around and put stuff on other people’s property just because they feel like it. This for some reasons sounds a lot like the Sony DRM scandal, which resulted in Sony recalling a whole slew of Sony BMG CDs, because they basically installed a malicious program onto peoples computers and made it hidden, so you wouldn’t even know it was on your computer if you had it. Even more so, removing this thing could break your OS.
It just really disturbs me that some big company has this blatant disregard for personal property, when on the other end of things they are hyper-concerned with people copying their own copyrighted work (which can actually be copied legally for limited use. Even more so they’re trying to block this legal copying anyway).
Well either way. Philadelphia has actually fined Sony corp for putting up these illegal advertisements. Go Philly.. i love my hometown ;).

I’ve seen graffiti that actually looks cool… this stuff looks stupid.. its as bad as some idiot painting Dude! on the overpass of the highway (and at least i can give that guy credit for having the ingenuity, or stupidity, to figure out how to hang down from the overpass over a highway to write that.)

So i’m sitting in the upstairs lobby of a the Radisson near DFW in Dallas. I watched the eagles throw away a perfectly good game on Monday night from my hotel room in Dallas, making it all that more a painful loss. I had to go to a meeting the next day with Texans, and couldn’t gloat about the eagles like i had so planned. Instead, I kept my mouth shut from even being affiliated with Philadelphia. I have a good cover, considering I work in Columbia, MD.
Anyways, just got off the phone with Laurie, i miss her, I’m silly, its just been a couple of day trip.. I’ll see her Friday though :) :).
What else. I took a couple of pictures with my LOMO LC-A from the my top floor room out at the highway and night sky. Maybe they’ll turn out cool. One should have a lot of trails of light from the highway and the other may have a plane flying through it.
Thats about the excitement of the evening.
Oh I’m sitting in this hallway because for some reason you can only get wireless Internet from the lobby of the hotel and not the rooms. What a sham.
ciao

So i made the transition from military officer, to government contractor. Thats about all i have to say. I’ve been feeling quite uninspired to put much information up on my blog lately. In the little bit of free thought time I have, I’ve been trying to think of a new direction for my blog. It seems to be falling towards posting interesting pictures of my own that I like. Maybe it’ll continue further in that direction. Or maybe I’ll completely refocus the site. But for now… i’m just sort of here. Not too much i want to say on this thing. I guess this happens from time to time. This is probably the longest i’ve had since starting a blog on my own domain though.

So thats about what I’ve been up to lately .. don’t have much time right now to make any sort of accounts of anything yet. I think i will though when I have time. We’ll see… figured I’d throw people a bone if you actually check this thing ;).
Short summary. Dan got married! it rocked. I was in Ocean City for the week. that rocked! Now I’m back and figuring out what I need to be doing.

I’m done .. final outed today.
I cleaned my room .. rock on .. and dusted.. Holy crap.
I had to run over a belt of a tire from a truck on the Beltway today to which it ripped up the protective shields on the front underside of my car and also screwed up the bottom part of my front bumper .. Looks like I’m going to need to be calling my insurance .. dealer checked it out and made sure there wasn’t anything else that got screwed up. Thankfully it was just the shields and the cosmetic damage to the bumper .. ugh.. nothing i could do about it too .. happened right in front of me .. no time to get out of the way at highway speed.
Thats about my day. Really I’m actually in a pretty good mood.

I find myself thinking this morning about what causes people to start up conversations or talk to random people on the street, in an elevator, or sitting next to a person in traffic or at a light. I’m definately not the most outgoing person. I don’t think talking to random people is bad. I don’t know if it really gets you anything either. In the end maybe its just a mental device people use to pass time while they’re stuck in some sort of line or waiting for something. There’s a lot of these times. What spawned me thinking about these things was when I was sitting at a light this morning a guy looked over from his Audi A4, and said “hey thats a beautiful car”. Hearing him I looked back over and said, “hey thanks” with a smile, and at that point the light changed and driving commenced again. This happens from time to time, randomly at stop lights, or traffic or things like that, I’ll have people do this or if its a long light I’ve even had people get into conversations with me about the car or somethinng like that. All of it short of course. To me though I guess I just don’t understand peoples needs to do this sort of thing. I don’t mind talking to them, and hey I love my car, it is pretty nice, I’m amazed at the fact that its mine most times I come out and get in it. To me though, if I was driving another car and looked over and saw my car at a light, or say a porsche or a corvette, I don’t think i’d even think to say anything. I’d just probably look at it and think to myself “hey thats a sweet car.” (hell even with driving my car i see other sweet cars and think that) I’d figure whoever is driving it already knows that since they own it right?
Now i’m not annoyed at this happening. It just feels a little awkward sometimes. I guess cars are just one of those things.
On another note, i totally got rained on while driving to work today with the top down. The kicker is, that if i hadn’t stopped to put the top up I probably would have ended up a lot less wet than I did, since I got out of the rain about a minute after I had stopped to put the top up in the rain. Go figure… Oh well that was fun.

Just some short fun weekend spontaneity. Laurie and I were out shopping for some sporting goods stuff yesterday on Rockville pike (she needs new softball shoes, i needed some goggles for swimming and am looking for golf hats and window shopping golf shoes). Either way, we went down the road a bit and felt as if we were hungry, but decided to stop in Bed bath and beyond first, since she had a 20% off coupon and some things she needed, a quick trip. Upon getting out of the store we heard some explosions. What the heck is that? Well it was fireworks. Some pretty big fireworks actually, not your cheesy run of the mill, next door neighbor firecrackers. These were some big boomers. So we decided to figure out where it was coming from. We drove around some area for a little bit looking to see if we could get closer. Finally we got back out on Rockville pike and realized it was coming from the country club just up a ways. So with out any regard for the “Private Property, trespassers will be prosecuted” sign we just drove up the drive way and parked ourselves in the parking lot with my top down on the car and watched away at the rest of the fireworks. I even put on some music so we had a little bit of our own soundtrack. It was a funny little trip and completely spontaneous.

So this morning I’m thinking to myself, that this week is seriously a very nice weather week. Its great. Weather is nice, everything is pretty awesome. I have this feeling in me that I need to go golfing sometime. Its just so nice out, it’d be perfect. On top of that I bought some new golf balls that were on clearance at the sporting goods store. I know sheesh you go through golf balls a lot in golf, so why are you excited about new golf balls? Well its mainly because since last year I’ve been using a bag full of free extra golf balls that my uncle gave me 2 summers ago now. He gave me a whole load of them, my aunt and him are hawks at picking up lost balls. My aunt golfs all the time so she picks up quite a few. Well either way .. last week i hit the end of that bag of golf balls. So i need to get more. So while I’m appreciative i haven’t really needed to spend any money on golf balls which are kind of expensive, I’m also psyched that I actually have some golf balls that are 1. New and 2. Consistently the same.
Maybe I’ll get out this weekend…
